Tom would give me a telephone call every year on my birthday and wish me a "Happy Birthday." We both were early risers so when that call came precisely at 5:30 in the morning on each May 27th, I knew who was calling. Tom loved his family and always supported them in their various activities. He will be missed by his many friends . . . . . I will miss that call on the 27th of May. Tom Woodruff

Gosh, Tom was so full of friendship, kindness and joy. We met in Nashville, AR when I first joined USDA. He had such delight in telling Aggie jokes to Dr. Thompson just to get his goat (which it did). He talked of family, but also asked about your family with genuine care and interest. That personal caring aspect made him a great supervisor, along with superior intelligence and common sense. Mary, family and friends - be strong - and reflect on Tom's soul, spirit and love that he shared with you.

Dr. Albright was the most positive dedicated individual I ever worked with. I consider it an honor to have work with him during our time at the TSC in Omaha NE. Even when things did not work out the way we thought was best he would say always have a positive attitude. After I retired Tom would call me on my birthday and we would have a "catch up" conversation on family issues. He would also send me different emails regarding humorous issues. I will miss those calls and emails. But my loss is nothing compare the the loss to Mary and the Albright family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you! Love Joan and DuWayne Metz

Just before Tom retired from the USDA, FSIS, he sent a message to everyone and said he wanted to pass along what he had learned from one of his mentors: “Today is a gift, and that is why we call it the present. Make of today the very best that you can, for when tomorrow comes, today cannot return again.” Tom was a gift to us all and it always made the very best of every day. Thank you Tom. My condolences to your family. Dr. Ilene Arnold
