Raymond Farrist Ledbetter, Jr., 73, died Monday, May 6, 2019, at his home in Lincoln, surrounded by family. He was born December 7, 1945, to Betty F. Wells Ledbetter and Raymond Farrist Ledbetter, Sr., the oldest of three children. He was an Army veteran, serving in Korea and Viet Nam. He was an avid fisherman who was known for carrying a fishing pole “just in case” he found a place to fish. He met and married his wife, Linda Sue Ledbetter, on May 1, 1969. They celebrated their 50th anniversary just days before his death.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Lorena Ledbetter Lamb, and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Ledbetter of the home; one son, Raymond F. Ledbetter, III, of Lincoln; his daughters, Nancy May Clark and Charles of Lincoln, and Wanda Hendricks and Jon Luke of Prairie Grove; five grandsons, Chris and Michael Ledbetter and A.J. Perrine of Lincoln, and Gavin Hendricks and Hunter Burtness of Prairie Grove; three granddaughters, Melissa Pohl and Cory of Huntsville, Cheyanne Perrine and Alan Gorman of Springfield, Missouri, and Abigail Hendricks of Prairie Grove; three great-granddaughters, Jaysa and Hadley Pohl, and Hazel Perrine; one great-grandson Axton Pohl; one great-grandson to be born this summer, Liam Gorman; one brother, Jimmy Ledbetter and Opal of Gurdon; one sister, Wendy Ledbetter and Glen Fite of Gurdon; and many friends and extended family members who called him Ray, Papa, or Junior.
A memorial service will be held at South Fork Church near Gurdon, Arkansas, Saturday, May 11, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children's Hospital of Arkansas.
