Murl Dean Newton, 89, of Bloomer went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. He was born September 14, 1929 in Cecil, AR to parents Cordia and Troy Newton.

Murl served in the US Army and received a World War ll Victory Medal. He loved to hunt and fish with his brothers & spend time together at their cabin on the river. He definitely had a green thumb and maintained a beautiful vegetable garden for many years.

Murl was preceded in death by his wife Rose Mary Newton, daughter Donna Newton, son Steve Newton and brothers Ed and Harmon Newton.

He is survived by one son, Rick Newton of Ft. Smith AR; two daughters, Brenda Niemeyer & husband Terry of Springdale AR and Paula Binford & husband John of Venus TX; one granddaughter Stephanie Turner of Elm Springs AR; four grandsons, Richard Newton of Charleston AR, Cory Newton of Philadelphia PA, John David Binford of Santo TX, and Jared Binford of Midlothian TX; six great-grandchildren, Cherysh Newton of Charleston AR, Rylee & Lincoln Binford of Santo TX and Jayson, Jaxsen and Jolie Binford of Midlothian TX; two sisters, Shirley Thrift & husband Arlin of Lavaca AR and Janice Berkshire of Cave Springs AR.

It was Murl and Rose's desire to have their ashes, along with those of their daughter Donna, to be buried together. We will have a celebration of life and a graveside service at the Eubanks Cemetery in Cecil at a later date to honor their wishes.

I have a lifetime of good memories of Uncle Murl and Aunt Rose going back to 1961 when Grandpa Newton died. Uncle Murl was there for us when my Dad Edward died. Always the calm, steady hand and reassuring words. The world is an emptier place without Uncle Murl.
