Obituary

Mark Edward Courdin, 60, received his last pair of wings when he passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, from injuries suffered in a car accident.
Mark was born on November 30, 1959, in Monett, MO. In 1981, he married his high school sweetheart, Retta Sprouse Courdin. He is a 1978 graduate of Springdale High School. He graduated from Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology where he specialized in aircraft systems, engines and design.

Mark started his career in aviation in 1982. For twenty years, he owned and operated a successful, regional fixed-based aviation company. In 2002, Mark cofounded TMS Development which was responsible for various residential projects in Northwest Arkansas. Ten years ago, he pursued his passion for agricultural machinery. He used his expertise to grow the John Deere brand throughout Southwest Missouri.
As a younger man, Mark’s passions included dirt biking, drag racing, repelling, hot air ballooning, skydiving, pyrotechnics and aerobatics. Mark enjoyed collecting antiques (cars, motorcycles, guns, Tupperware and Frisco Railroad memorabilia). He refurbished classic hot rods, tractors and aircraft. On weekends, you could find him at an auction, car show, tractor pull, hunting Bigfoot or working on the family farmhouse in Purdy, MO. He loved family road trips. He looked forward to surprising his family with roadside attractions, state parks and little-known about restaurants.
In addition to Retta, Mark is survived by his daughter, Aerial, 30, and his son, Jett, 26. He was a devoted husband and loving father. His children were his greatest joy and what he was most proud of. His children will remember his exemplarily faith, honesty and selflessness.

Mark was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, hardworking nature and kind spirit. He joked about being born in the wrong century. He always felt a connection to the American Old West, but his family and friends are thankful that God had other plans.

He is also survived by many other family members and friends too numerous to mention. He will be missed.

A graveside service will be at Waldensian Presbyterian Church (2250 FR 1080, Monett, MO 65708) on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 1 pm. The service will be officiated by Mr. Charlie Foster.
