Obituary

Karen (Lookadoo) Pope died on May 7, 2019 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born on January 24, 1955 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to James Carroll and Kathryn (Wallworth) Lookadoo.
She is preceded in death by her parents. She worked at Jones Truck Lines for 10 years and then the next 30 years at Ronny Pope CPA as a tax preparer, head of the computer department, and bookkeeper for various customers.
She went to Catholic School for 8 years and graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1973 as co-valedictorian. She obtained a B.A. from Henderson State University in 3 years, as well as an M.B.A. from The University of Arkansas School of Business.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville. She prayed to the Lord to send the man who would be right for her and she married Ronny Pope on June 27, 1986, and she never looked back. They attended the First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville and she attended bible study at Grace Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville.
She enjoyed taking care of animals and gardening, reading, sewing, traveling, cooking and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
With her marriage, came a daughter, Angie (Bill) McArdle, and son Shannon Pope, as well as six grandchildren: Addison, Breanna, and Andrew McArdle, Kaitlyn, Lauren and Reese Pope; two great grandchildren: Cameron and Kinsley. She loves them all still. She is survived by two brothers, James (Carolyn) Lookadoo and Stephen Lookadoo; one sister, Jayne (Mark) Harrison; two nieces, Kathryn (Shay) McLaughlin and Sarah Lookadoo, her Brother-in-law Larry (Elaine) Pope , niece Traci (Brad) Garringer and nephew Jason ( Leslie) Pope. She also leaves behind her best friends, Robin and Butch Thomas, Alice Reynolds, and many other friends. A person is lucky to have just one friend that truly has your back, but to have this many is beyond belief. Each one has helped her in her journey. She thanks her family and friends for walking her home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 11, 2019, followed by a reception at the Church. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Grace Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2451 Weddington Drive, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701 or First United Presbyterian Church at 695 Calvin Street, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72702.

I was heartbroken to hear this sad news. The Lookadoo family were so important to my parents, my brothers and me. We were "across the street neighbors" for many years on College Street, and Karen and her siblings were the only other kids on our block, so we played together daily. Our parents remained very close throughout their lives. Karen was a remarkable woman, and I am proud to have been able to call her a friend for so many years.
