Obituary

Joseph Henry Goodwin
12/14/1948 – 05/08/2020

Joseph H. Goodwin fell asleep in Jehovah’s memory on May 8, 2020 at 9:32 a.m. He was a member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Russellville, Arkansas. Baptized in 1968, Joseph progressed spiritually throughout his life and felt privileged to be appointed as an Elder (teacher, mentor and advisor) and to serve in several congregations over 28 years.
Many people knew Joseph through his 35 years in pool and spa maintenance. He and his wife of 41 years, Georgia owned and operated Blue Turtle Pools. While this was a full time responsibility, it was a part-time job that supported him and his wife’s door to door ministry work. Joseph was especially known to his customers for his honesty and good work ethic; and to his brothers and sisters in the faith for his kindness, genuine concern and love for the entire world wide brotherhood.
Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved father, Keith M. Goodwin, his beloved mother, Violet B. Goodwin, and his beloved brother, William Michael ‘Mike’ Goodwin, all of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife and friend, Georgia, of 41 years; his brother Garry of Vermillion, Ohio, his sister Kathleen Goodwin Dixon of Fort Smith, three nephews Jeremy Diaz of Fort Smith, Michael Goodwin and Frank Goodwin of Syracuse, New York; a niece, Melissa Strovers, her husband Lance, and their three children: Wolfgang, Maddy and Bailey of Grinnell, Iowa.
Joseph will be greatly missed and although. we are heartbroken over our loss of him now, we rejoice in knowing through the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christs’ blood we all have a hope for a resurrection into a Paradisiac “Kingdom” here on earth (please see: jw.org, “When Someone You Love Dies”)
