Obituary

Helen Ruth Christy, 90, passed away May 17, 2020, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born March 3, 1930 in Harrison, Arkansas to Roy and Pebble Watkins. Helen was preceded in death by her husband R. Dale Christy.
Helen grew up in Harrison, where she was named “Miss Harrison” her senior year of high school, which was one of her proudest moments. She attended Arkansas Teachers’ College in Conway as well as the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. This is where she met the love of her life, Dale. They married in 1951 and soon began raising a family. She was a homemaker and involved with her church wherever they lived. She loved playing bridge and socializing with her friends. She was a long-time member of P.E.O. in both Fayetteville and Bella Vista.
She was a loving Mother and Nonnie to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always went out of her way to make you feel welcomed and loved.
She is survived by daughter Charlotte Faucette (John) of Fayetteville, son Alan Christy (Nancy) of Fayetteville, son Scott Christy (Becky) of Springdale, daughter Sandra Smith (Bart) of Bentonville, nine grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Highlands United Methodist Church, 371 Glasgow Rd., Bella Vista, AR 72715.

Helen Ruth was an intelligent, gentle woman who was admired and loved by so many. She was president of our senior class at Harrison High and deserved the many accolades she received. She and I were privileged to attend Girl’s State together as Harrison High School juniors. I treasure her friendship and her memory.

My parents loved Helen Ruth and Dale and cherished them both. Dad knew Helen Ruth all his life and said they met in a car ride home to Harrison where Dale was going to visit with Dad's family. After meeting and riding with Helen Ruth, Dad said he barely saw Dale except to sleep all weekend. Whether that is all true or not is up to conjecture but Dad swore it was. All my love to all the family.
